Flannel Friday: Butterfly Matching

I've mentioned our storytime kits before, and this spring I updated our Bugs kit. One of the activities I put in there is a Butterfly Matching File Folder game. While I chose to do it as a file folder since it has to fit in a medium-sized plastic tote, you could easily make the images bigger for a flannel board application. Thanks Mama Jenn for the idea and the link to the great images. I copied the ones I was interested in into Word and scaled them to fit the dimensions of my file folder.

Right sides of the butterflies were glued and laminated with the file folder. Left sides were laminated separately. What would I do without an in-house laminating machine?!

I purchased Velcro dots for this project because I wanted the nice clean look since this will circulate. I have a big spool of Velcro (hook side only) that I cut chunks off of for storytime projects. :)

This week's round up is hosted by Bridget at What is Bridget Reading?. As always, check the Flannel Friday website, Facebook, and Pinterest accounts for more information and past Flannel Friday creations. Are you on the Flannel Friday map? Add yourself via this survey.
